The Kids Prepare America Student Contest!
Put your imagination to work and create an original picture to let people know why it's important to prepare for emergencies. Help teach the people in your community to "Get Ready with Freddie!"
Requirements:
Create an original picture on the contest template that will encourage people to get ready in case an emergency happens. Be sure to complete the sentences at the bottom of the template once you finish your picture. A completed and signed student contest entry form must be securely attached to each submission. One entry per student.

Click hereto download and print the Official Rules and entry form. READ the rules carefully with your parents, fill out the entry form, and have a parent or guardian sign it. Then, attach the form to your picture and mail it in!
Eligibility:
Contest is open to students currently enrolled in grades 3 and 4 in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.
Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged on: creativity and originality (30%); demonstration of emergency/disaster preparedness (30%); clarity of expression (20%); and adherence to contest rules (20%).
Student Prizes:
One Grand Prize Student Winner will be selected from each of the ten FEMA regions for a total of 10 Grand Prize Student Winners. Each winner will receive a trip to Washington, D.C. for him/herself and a parent or guardian to attend The Kids Prepare America awards dinner on June 5, 2008.
Teacher Prizes:
The teacher of each Grand Prize Student Winner will also be awarded a trip to Washington, D.C. for the June 5, 2008 awards dinner. In addition, each of these 10 educators will receive 35 packages of Sylvania DOT•it Checker lights to share with students.
Deadline:
All entries must be postmarked by November 30, 2007 and received by December 14, 2007. See the Official Rules and Entry Form for the mailing address.
Winners will be announced on or around January 30, 2008.
